WCTC Portfolio Event Branding

The theme I designed (and won) for WCTC’s 2025 Portfolio Night was “Make it Pop,” a nod to the feedback graphic designers sometimes receive (and laugh about.) I was inspired by retro comic book art. The exploding popcorn illustration and dynamic typography highlight the excitement of graduation.
This project included printing on window cling, vinyl, and foam board. Additionally, I got to experience printing on large scale. The “logo” hanging on the hallway wall is 4 feet tall!

The poster design went on to win the “Best of Category” for “Students; 50% of Work by Students” from the Great Lakes Graphics Association (GLGA.) This competition is one of the largest regional printing competitions in the country!
A panel of judges with extensive experience in print production were brought in to examine the work. The judging criteria included registration, crossovers, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, finishing, bindery and overall visual impact.
